Album: Day 1: Saturday 21 May Sue and I arrived in Gent in mid-afternoon, after a harrowing taxi ride from the train station. After checking into our modern hotel (13th C.), we went for a walk. Last change: 11/30/09

Album: Day 2: Sunday 22 May We were up early Sunday (the bells of the 999chrches within earshot gave one little option), had breakfast at the hotel, and wandered back along the street we had walked a bit of the night before. The day was lovely and we discovered that it was a free admission weekend to all the heritage institutions in Vlaanderen, so we did the museum tour. Last change: 11/30/09

Album: Day 4: Tuesday 24 May We took only one photo on Day 3, as I spent the day at a local mental hospital giving a "master class" to a number of Belgian heritage colleagues and Sue spent the day roaming the back streets of the city core. On the next day, we visited a most interesting industrial museum in the morning, then, after lunch, took a boat tour along the canals. Last change: 11/30/09

Album: Day 5: Wednesday 25 May On Wednesday morning we took the tram south to the botanical garden and art museums. Trams in Gent are modern, clean, efficient and appear to be operated only by women. You can take a tram from one end of this large city to the other for only a euro - at any time of the day. After our visit, we returned to the city core for lunch and some shopping. This was followed by a nap at the hotel for Sue and, for me, an hour drinking the superb Flemish beer at a sidewalk cafe. Last change: 07/03/10

Album: Day 6: Thursday 26 May For our final free day in Gent, our host Adriaan Linters gave us a very special architectural tour of Gent and the area. We saw things that no tourist would normally see and it was the high point of our visit. Last change: 05/13/10
