The path into the swamp was fortunately high and dry. Leaving the car, we spotted several deer in the next field but, as soon as they saw us, they were off like a prawn in the sun, as the Aussies say. *

Near the parking area were a few last "Shaggy Mane" mushrooms. *

The trail leads through bush and swampland, surrounded by abandoned farmland. No massive show of colour this fall, but bits of crimson all through the greenery. *
